First Day of Internship

Today, March 1, 2012 marks my first day as an intern at the Republic of Palau Embassy in the Republic of China, Taiwan. (wow, that's a mouthful...LOL) So it was quite an interesting morning as I woke up at 7 am and was still sleepy but managed to get out of my warm covers and step into the cold shower. It was quite a struggle though cause it took me forever to get ready and even longer to commute to the other side of Taipe to get to the embassy. More than halfway to the Embassy, I realized that March 1 is also the day that I need to pay rent. Yes, that annoying thing that I need to do in order to keep a roof over my head at least until the next month rolls around. I had withdrawn the money for my rent last night, but smart Landi decided to keep it in my wallet. So I had to get off at the next stop and catch the train back to leave my rent at the house for the landlord to collect. In the process of getting my wallet out of my handbag, I take out my phone and conveniently leave it ...

"First" Post

So, there's a lot that has happened throughout my time here in Taiwanderland!!! I borrowed this name, Taiwanderland, from other people that have used it differently for different reasons. But that's besides the point. LoL. Oh goodness, I have a feeling that this blog is going to contain a lot of random thoughts that will be mixed in with whatever it is that I will be blogging about. LoL. Anyway, the picture above is a picture of me and some very good friends during a Christmas Party at my South African friend's house. She's the one right behind me. They have become a very big part of my life in Taiwan, not only because they're my classmates, but also because they have ...

Critiquing Yourself

Isn't it amazing how random things catch your attention at the most random times when you least expect it? Well, This is exactly what happened to me the other day. I was just randomly flipping through the channels as I was preparing to go to bed when I came across some evangelist leading a whole congregation in reciting some phrase. At first glance, I was gonna change the channel. And then he all of a sudden said, "Why do we critique ourselves?" . I'm not exactly sure why this caught my attention so easily. I think it was just that at this time of year, there's always so much going on and it's always a struggle to figure out what the best way is to go about getting things done. At this time, I usually start doubting myself. I don't necessarily wish I were someone else but I definitely wish for different circumstances.
