Recording

So something happened last Friday night also that I've been thinking about blogging as it is a first-time experience for me and Melanch. And luckily we had Kaiyo and Mumai there with us to coach us and get us through. So this is what we did. It's quite hilarious. We made a record. Yes, we made a record. We actually recorded a song. It was a Palauan song, I'll try my best to write a translation for it below.

I.  A deliongel er kid el di ua berrous, ng berrusek ng berrusek, bertelem kau me ngak
Diak a chad el medengelii, Dimlak kulchesuar el kmo deleuill a mo uai tiang e ochedengei, kulemdasu el
kmo ng kodall, a keleng mo ulebengelel
Our relationship that was just like a dream, my dream, our special secret that no one else
understands, I didn't realize that it could end this way, I thought it was til death do we part
Chorus:  Meng ngera di mo cheldechulel re ngak, deleuill el uoi dimlak a telmellel, ng berrusek el mo re
medak,  berrusek el mo re medak
So what am I supposed to do now, our relationship that did not have any problems, it'll be
my dream leading into the future
II.  A rechad oureng mesaod a klungiolel, ulekum te kid me te mo medengelii, tial deleuill e ochedengei el
      kmo ng uangerang
Others look at our relationship and envy it, if only they were us so they could know
      how it really is

I must say, I have a new-found understanding and appreciation for all music talents after that one night of recording. I did not know how tedious and tiring it could be. For 20 seconds of the song, it takes forever just to get it right. We stayed up all night until 8:30am and still did not finish the whole song. Last I checked we still had some harmonizing to do on a couple more choruses and also another verse.  It was so much fun and I wouldn't mind doing it again as long as it's with Mumai and Kaiyo.  I think they're the only ones that have the patience to teach us how to do it correctly and count us in when we need to start singing. A lot of funny things happened including making our own lyrics in the process. We get so caught up in trying to time ourselves and when to begin and when to stop that we forget the lyrics to the song. Haha. It was a great night. Oh, and it was really cool too that we only used Kaiyo's laptop. The beat was made using some software and we recorded also just using a software with a mic plugged into the laptop. Technology is awesome. There's a clip but I cannot seem to upload it now, but I'll be sure to upload the finished product.

Holiday KTV

"....Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me, oh, twice on the pipe, if the answer is no."  Remember that song that's always sung in karaoke bars everywhere? Well, it was sung beautifully last night yet again at the famous Taiwan Holiday KTV. This is something I've done a few times here in Taiwan that's easily become one of my top 10 must do in Taiwan. Yes, you can sing karaoke almost anywhere in the world, but what makes the Taiwan experience slightly different. So here's how it goes. KTV is a little different from most karaoke nights in the bars in the US. (Karaoke like the ones in the US would be referred to as OK in Taiwan, different from KTV) There are many different rooms with couches and a huge plasma screen tv where a party can go in and the rates are different for the number of hours that you stay. So for instance, last night there were about 11 of us friends (from Germany, Colombia, US, Palau) that went to a Holiday KTV. So we got in ...

1 Week Before Christmas

It's one week before Christmas and just when I was being selfish and thinking of all that I will be missing out on during the holidays season with my family and my local church, I failed to realize that there are others who are not even capable of thinking about Christmas because of their day-to-day problems. After what started off as a well-planned weekend that was supposed to be fun-filled, I heard news from home about someone very near and dear to my heart that just made my heart sink to places I had not imagined possible. I wish I was elsewhere right now, preferably home. I feel for he who feels that he has no one who cares about his well-being. I am caught between a rock and a hard place not knowing what to do. If I say something, I feel like I would be too forth-coming, if I don't say anything, I risk something worse happening. I think I will say something to the right people and hopefully help somehow. I never saw myself dealing with something like this. I have never had...

Over the past weekend

This is what a rainy day looks like on my campus.  That's in front of my building looking into the track.  This is our little cafe on the first floor of my college.  College of Social Science. I was gonna take a picture of this spaghetti they sell in a hot dog bun. LoL.  This is one of my favorite places in Taipei. Alleycat's.  They serve great pizzas, draft beer, and calzones. Pictured below is beer and pizza from there.   This is my French friend Jerome who went to the movies with me where we watched The Lady. He's not high I promise, he just reacted to the flash of my camera.  We had a farewell dinner for one of our Palauan friends.  This is what a meal looks like when ordered in most places in Taiwan. Rice, some sort of meat dish, pickled vegetable, stir fried vegetable, tofu, fruit, and soup.  Kevin and Danica  We were roomies last year. Melanch, Danica, and I. Don't...
